Malnourished Pregnant Women Program
The Congo ranks 13th highest in the world for maternal mortality.
Help us save these vulnerable women and their babies.
One of the largest threats to pregnant Congolese women is malnourishment. Women are vulnerable to war, displacement, sexual assault, loss of community, and loss of income. CORI provides stability and holistic nourishment in these times.
In the city of Kamina where CORI operates, 7 out of 10 pregnant women are severely malnourished.
CORI has successfully provided care for over 400 pregnant women.
The lack of adequate nutrients during pregnancy leads to a multitude of complications, including high rates of mother and infant mortality. To thwart the rising number of orphaned infants, our organization partners with local women’s healthcare providers to support pregnant women before, during, and after they give birth.
We offer prenatal and postnatal vitamins, nutritious food, clothing that fits changing bodies, culturally responsive health/nutritional education, and sustainable income opportunities.
By supporting our Malnourished Pregnant Women Program, you save 2 lives and a family. You save the mother's life through supporting a safe pregnancy, and you save the baby's life through ensuring they are born healthy and nourished.
